I‘ve been thinking more on consent lately – a core principle for making decisions together.
Consent is the ability to say no (object) and halt the process of deciding.
It forces you, as a constraint, to come up with better ways of deciding together. Which often means: focusing on the information itself, not the information holder, for seeing if it‘s reasoned and paramount.
This means authority is a proxy for reasoned. In that sense a smart shortcut, but still a shortcut. That‘s why we test things and go and see.
The ultimate test is reality, not opinion, status or anything else.
